Heart Attack Grill spokesman dies. (News Talk Post)

kronosposeidon says...

Funny how NO one was talking about government at all, but now that you mention it, @NetRunner, @dystopianfuturetoday and I are proposing legislation to carefully monitor the caloric intake of every single American. If your intake is too high, we starve you; if it's too low, we force feed you. And we'll force feed you Muslim food, and take away your Christian food. And then we'll all be forcibly relocated to Kenya Indonesia.

Funny how you didn't mind the tyranny of the Bush regime when he presided over the biggest expansion of government in US history, but when someone tries to make sure that no one has to die for lack of insurance then suddenly it's tyranny. I've noticed as of late you've picked up blankfist's "statist" lingo, but you didn't mind it when Bush authorized the state to wiretap without warrants.

Real freedom means people have the right to ruin their lives, and many do.
The tyrannical nanny-state alternative is far worse.

Natalie Merchant - Ophelia

NinjaInHeat says...

I have an old stereo system that I use to wake up in the morning, I don't have many cds nowadays that I still listen to (in CD format...) but Ophelia has been on the tray for years now, waking me up every morning. It's a gorgeous album, by the time Frozen Charlotte ends and My Skin starts building up I usually find the strength to pull myself out of bed.

Oh give me a break, how many kids came home with calculus homework this year, asked their parents for help and got legitimate, well informed, responses? Probably a slim minority whose parents teach Math were the only ones.
Most other kids (of those who opted to take calculus) probably got a hearty "DONT ASK ME IM NOT GOOD WITH MATH!"
I'd like to see some good solid evidence that home schooled kids excel past their publicly educated counterparts. I dont have time to look it up now but i'll be back.

The Confused Lamb

Super cute klipity-klopety shoes/feet on that little munchkin. Do people really keep lambs as pets? Makes me think of Charlotte and Wilbur.

Great first video, suzanne! You've finally gotten rid of your red P after almost 4 years. Congrats!

Rising Folk Star Taylor Mitchell Killed By Coyotes!

zor says...

I rolled up on two coyotes sitting in the grass near Charlotte, NC while riding a four wheeler about a month ago. I was surprised, but it turns out they are not uncommon here.

The law here is that you can shoot them on site, for any reason, any time, no permission needed because they are an invasive species. This is another good reason.

Ditto for not hiking without some kind of weapon, a putter, a knife, anything. It's just good policy.

UPDATED! EURO S⇧FTUP 2009 now with confirmed location! (British Talk Post)

maatc says...

Ok folks, here is a suggestion for a venue:

CANTALOUPE off Old Street in the East End.

It has a nice loungey area that looks perfect to hang out in for a chat and some drinks/food.
Their bar menu sounds delicious and food starts at 3 pounds, with burgers around 6 pounds.
They also have a good range of beers, including the Czech Budvar.
My London local friend also tells me there are a few cool bars around the area in case we want to switch location later on.

Here is how to get there from Harry Palmers Lodge

What do you all think? Choices are plenty of course, but since no one came forward with another suggestion this sounds to me like a good spot.

We should decide by the weekend so I can reserve a cosy corner for 8 people or so. (5 confirmed at the moment)
