Snowboard Switch Quadruple Underflip 1620

newtboy says...

Wait, a quad underflip 1620 should be 4 back flips with 4 1/2 complete spins, shouldn't it? This was just a quad underflip. Impressive, but not as described.

Lifesize Human Foosball

Ashenkase says...

"I think foosball is a combination of soccer and shish kabobs"

“Foosball screwed up my perception of soccer. I though you had to kick the ball and then spin around and around. I can't do a back flip, much less several simultaneously with two other guys.”

How Advertisers Failed Women in 2012

Sepacore says...

Victoria Secret shows attractive women in underwear, how dare they!

More seriously, there's a fair bit of stupid behind this.

When was it decided that advertisers were working for the preference of a specific group of women while disregarding the opinions of other women.. and how do you fail something if you didn't even try?

I didn't try to do a back-flip, does that mean I failed to do a back-flip?

Now, if I find out the advertisers didn't make money or generate any sales, then I'll agree that they failed.. but they still didn't fail women.

Back Flip Into Pool Fail

Fatherhood really has changed me. All I feel is horrified and appalled seeing that little boy potentially causing grievous injury (or at least pain) to himself. It fills my heart with anxiety.
And it really saddens me how gleefully amused people are at the sight of it.

IANAFather but - really? I'm sure it wasn't much fun but he's a kid, his body's springy and can take this. I'd check on him of course but I'd be surprised if he wasn't running around 5 minutes later. This would be much more dangerous for an adult who's less flexible.

Back Flip Into Pool Fail

messenger says...

I don't mind seeing adults do this kind of thing, but that's exactly why I waited 1 day and 17 hours to watch this. Poor kid's back. That said, it would be a freak thing if this kid was injured beyond a visit to the chiropractor.>> ^lucky760:

Super moonwalking all the way down the street!

Bloodscourge says...

@A10anis - Just a heads up.

Actually you just proved they aren't wheeled shoes. The videosift title says they are, but it's incorrect. Put the video you linked in 720p and go max screen, you notice the Nike Swoosh on each shoe. Nike DOES NOT MAKE WHEELED SHOES!!!!

You notice the green one, where it's a black outline with the swoosh inside of it, you notice he is wearing that same shoe pair in this video. So thank you for actually proving me right. I couldn't see what kind of shoe he was wearing in the original video, this confirmed it.

Here are the shoes he is wearing. Nike Free Run +3.

TL;DR = Nike doesn't make Wheel shows, dude is wearing Nike.

Does this settle whether there are wheels or not?

People Are Awesome - 2011 edition

Psychologic says...

Haha, snowboarder on the left at 1:07 doing a hip thrust.

Edit: Wow, I didn't even notice the mechanics on that ramp at 4:04 for the truck back-flip. The angle of the ramp changes after the front tires hit so the rear tires aren't deflected upward as steeply. That's some serious engineering (figuring out the correct angles to have the truck land correctly).

HEY, I've been here! Looks like the secret's out, this is literally one of my favorite places in the world I can escape to with any regular frequency. Huntington Gorge kicks bushels of Green Mountain ass.

Been going here like clockwork every summer since I was about 5 years old. It's about a 25-30 minute drive from Burlington, 15 minutes or so from Essex. Beautiful place, a couple different spots to jump from depending on how bold/experienced you are. A little something for everyone's specific comfort zone.

The spot where all the deaths occur and will probably continue to occur is unsurprisingly the highest/trickiest place to jump from. There's not much clearance on either side of you as you try to clear two overlapping ridges and NOT land in the "dead zone".

Basically, the river current plunges under the bottom of the rock face a few feet away from where you would want to land and goes underground (the regulars refer to it as a whirlpool but I'm not exactly sure what the proper term for it is) for a good 30 feet before resurfacing; the vast majority of people sucked under don't come out the other end, getting pinned against debris (there's said to be a few good sized logs down there) or stuck in a pocket where the oscillating current keeps you in spin-cycle until you drown.

The "newbie" area, in video @ 2:19 with the guy back-flipping, is a 20-25 foot drop with a nice 12 ft circumference pool to land in, 10 feet deep with a soft sandy bottom. This is where you go to build up courage for "the jump". Here, the only thing you really need to worry about is hitting the water properly (clench those cheeks and streamline yourself!).

The slides/caves carved out by waterfalls further up/down river are also places to check out if you're not into the whole thrill-seeking thing, accessibility depending on how dry/wet a summer it's been.

What an utterly agreeable configuration of natural elements this place is, well, for me at least.

Sorry but he barely raised his hands like 2 inches that hardly justifies celebrating at all, now if he was doing back-flips on the end zone for 10mins then I might agree I think the refs were just looking for any excuse whatsoever to try out their new rule.

Ignorance?
Just jokes. But seriously, that is the craziest rule I have ever seen. You can't celebrate prematurely? An audacious move like that deserves a bit of showboating. And what's with the "In Australia, you're allowed to do this, but in College Football, this year you're not" stuff?
You Americans are crazy.
>> ^GenjiKilpatrick:
..it's friggin' football.. AMERICAN football. What's more american then braggin'?
hell, i don't even like sports that much..

This is a rule that exists and that EVERYONE knows about. It's not a surprise so if you DON'T know about it you have only yourself to blame. You may think it's dumb but it's the coaches that vote on these rules and that's how they wanted it. It's not some magical foreign body but the people who coach the athletes.
